carlo.comments: Using Yahoo! Pipes: Steam Achievements in Friendfeed

  • Skit · 10 months ago
Team Fortress 2 stats don't show up in the Pipe. I assume this would be because of the acheivements tab. :(

I guess another step in to ipe would be need to check if it's the TF2 game and then append ?tab=achievements to the url before parsing the page?

That could work, yes. I can't tell you for sure as I don't play TF2 and thus didn't check against these achievements…

Leave me your Steam ID in a comment and I'll take a look when I have a minute.

Sorry, don't know why I didn't think to include it in the first comment.

Haven't looked at the page source, hopefully the actual achievements list is structured the same. :)

Ah yes, got it. Fixed! Have fun.

    Thanks Carlo!

The Lifestream plugin dev is going to make sure it now works in the wordpress lifestream plugin. He apparently copied your pipe to make sure it was always available for his plugin.

    Hey there!

What exactly do I enter for my steam ID?

    My profile is here: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/765611979692...

When I enter Steam ID (I presume it is 76561197969210065 right?) it says "No pipe results for Steam Achievements."

    Thanks for the help!

It looks like you didn't set your so-called "Custom URL" on your "Edit Profile" page @ Steam. For example, my Steam profile name is "carlo", while my custom URL is http://steamcommunity.com/id/KneelBeforeZott. As long as you don't set a custom URL, the Pipe won't work, I'm afraid.

So, visit your "Edit my Profile" page and set it, then try again. Then it should work. If not, let me know.

Hey thanks for the help I managed to get it working.

Now I am just trying to find a Facebook app that will import my achievements to my news feed.

Still working on that but at least I have it in an rss feed now.

    Thanks for your work!

Beautiful man, thanks! (I've used it with feedweaver to kinda make a my life RSS feed)
http://feedweaver.net/rss/orta/cuia05liu2ht5nat <- do the times fix themselves over time do you know?
  • Carlo Zottmann · 8 months ago
    The link gives me a 404, so I couldn't take a look, sorry. :/

Sorry about that, link is here: http://feedweaver.bitdojo.net/rss/orta/busylife

So what I've been looking at instead is using the 'myhistory' page instead, e.g. http://steamcommunity.com/id/KneelBeforeZott/my... but these pages are hidden behind the login which kinda sucks. I've never used pipes before reading the code for yours, do you know if its possible to make one that can send form data then pull the data from that? cause it can then be dated properly and will happily fit in with other feeds then.

    I doubt it, sorry.

Maybe Raptr.com can help you? I think they offer RSS feeds as well, I just don't know how suited they are for what you're trying to achieve…
