Wells Fargo used to pull that stupidity, though setting Opera to say it was Netscape 4.whatever would fool it. The worst part was that Wells Fargo would take a week or so to test new upgrades to Netscape, so I had to wait before downloading the latest Netscape until they had tested it. These days, Wells doesn't care so much - I'd been going there with Opera giving a UA string of "Opera" for maybe more than a year without Wells bitching, until I switched banks. (The new bank doesn't care, either, but it had javascript which didn't work with Opera 7.11, so I had to use Mozilla until Opera 7.2somethign came out.)

I'm fairly sure FB 0.7 has a UA string you can set...............oh no, it doesn't. Unless I am missing something?

Yes, it has, buried in the about:config settings, but that's not the point... I want to access their stupid site w/o having to adjust my browser to compensate for their lack of knowledge/goodwill.

What I really had to smile about was that they mentioned protection and IE in the same sentence :-))
  • Carlo Zottmann · 6 years ago
    Haha... yeah. I didn't notice that. ;)

You really want to use IE, I know you do. s'ok, mate, you can tell us.

One day, my friend, you're going to pay for that. :P

Yeah, probably, but with toutings like:

Yeah, the security problems it has will make you totally forget about the security problems you have with Outlook. It's wonderful!

This was "Amazing Stuff You Can Buy". Wasn't that stuff really amazing? Yes it was. So, until next time - buy amazing stuff!

Hmm - it's good to still have a few contacts in the game industry... Gossip, I think I just might know someone at Ubi Soft who does have a clue. I'll be sure to mention this next time I talk to him. We'll see if he can't talk some sense into the web development team...

I'd also like to point out that Firebird IS Netscape 7, for all intents and purposes... After all, they're both based off the Mozilla codebase.

Hool, this sounds cool. Keep me posted. If he can't do anything, okay - but at least someone tried to do something about it. Thanks! :)

Well I need to call him about something else on monday morning - I'll be sure to mention the Uru sign up thing to him. Mind if I point him at the blog entry?

Not at all. It's a public blog after all.
