Completely different style of story. I actually liked it better in some ways than Ender's Game.

That's what I thought, Xyleth. That's why I read Ender's Game - because Beryl & Istvan spoke so highly of them.

Its also interesting seeing how Scott Card develops as a writer and a person over the both the Ender and the Bean series.
He writes an interesing intro in (I think) the first Bean book explaining how he came to write it... v useful for all aspiring authors.

I really love Card's thoughts on writing and the art of writing. Very interesting. He wrote "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy" which is my preferred reference book for writing.
