Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure what things are like at your company. At mine (relatively large), it seems that actions speak a lot louder than words. When our start-up was acquired, I was the newest employee and in the transition, I was overlooked ending up with a title above two of the other employees in our company and below everyone else (the other ten employees). However, I'm currently the technical lead for one of the teams, and the overall technical lead of the three teams in our location. Here's hoping things work out in the long run for you.

Yeah, thats a bit pants. I've been doing the lead programming job for a while now, unofficially; not because I was promoted, just because I tend to do that without thinking. Team Leader means nothing until you have a team to lead, and if someone else is technically leading your team, then thats that. When it boils down to it though, the people are more likely to ask you what to do than the new guy - and thats going to be what counts in the long run.

I'm working for this outfit for more than three years, and by now I've neither seen a raise nor a promotion, even tho everyone is telling me I'm doing a great job. Also, I'm not the only one experiencing stuff like that... the company is notorious for giving their employees the feeling they don't give a fuck.

I'm rather sure my boss didn't have anything to do with the team lead screwup, but that doesn't make it better. It's not really the first time something like this has happened to me, but so far it had the biggest magnitude.

So, yes, I really really really think about leaving. First I gotta find a better job, tho. Sadly, I can't afford going one month w/o pay check.
