Gah.
I would hate to have income tax bills. I can't stand to look at my check as it is, much less have something that I owed the gov't. Hope it works out for you, I don't know much about the .de tax system, but I'd guess its comparable in percentages to our rates. I'm forking over at least 40% of my income to taxes right now. I have to sit down now, I hate thinking about it....all that money.....

Yeah, 40% sounds pretty much like it.
Good thing (read: update): I had a little side-biz (freelancer job) last year, lasted 3 months and I opened it for just one big contract, and closed it right after the deal was done. Now, turns out they didn't notice I don't have that side business anymore, so when they ordered me to come up with the advance payments it was in fact for my "ongoing freelance job". (Makes sense?)
Well, I've called them and told them the biz is dead and gone for over a year by now, and while we were still on the phone, the tax lady found the related paper work - surprise, surprise. She said I'm going to find a new report (what's the right word for it??) in the mail soon.
