Thank you for posting this. Its interesting. Protein folding is truly complex. It would be cool if we could learn enough to predict how they would fold just from the primary sequence. Then we could have protein based drugs. :-)

I have a few questions though - will it work under NT okay? I have a server at home that basically sits idle in IRC and a few other tasks that I could put it to work on. However, I have to wonder if the drugs that become possible only reap enormous profits for drug companies, and hardly benefit the needy patient that can't afford them. I know the goal of the program is to find cures, and I support that, but I have less faith in the pharmaceutical companies profit margin goals.

What do you guys think? Cures are okay regardless of what is charged? Or is it just some kind of distributed computing exploitation?

From what I've read both on their site and on some news pages linked from Google News, I think they are actually doing this for the good of mankind as whole and not just for some pharma corporations. Big plus in my book.

As for NT: shouldn't be a problem. I've tested both the command line and the GUI client on W2k and XP, and I doubt there will be problems on NT.

And regarding the "What do you guys think?" - I used to think that cures are indeed okay regardless of what's changed when I was running UD on my box. I mean, if I have cancer and there's a drug, I wouldn't care where it's coming from after all, would I? Having said that, I gotta admit that I feel a bit better now, knowing that F@H is run and maintained by a real academic institution. :)
