I freaked when I loaded this up today. I thought FanBoy had been using my computer and had logged me out.

I hope the color schemes will be back soon.... I miss mine (rose).

Why did you decide to move the nav column (previously left isde to the right side)?

I see new options for text/embedding. That will be cool.

    Have fun.

I miss my color scheme too (I switched between rose and blueish ones)... The nav column was far more convenient on the left, but I might just be used to it there. Give me a day and I'll tell you.

I am off to look around and find new bugs. :D

Aha, please note I read this after my freaky posting in the other announcement.

Nice work mate. Looks like you're having fun. Slick use of CSS as well. Now, embrace the script-fu and progress to The Next Level(tm).

Arf. I love logging into a site as it mutates :)

Left, right, left, right... where's the difference... ;)

As for the color schemes - with the old code, you could choose different colors, but the layout stayed the same. When I'm done here, you can switch themes, and that means the whole appearance. Think of it as a using another skin - anyone here using Trillian, for example? That's what I'm talking about.

Of course I'm not done yet, but I'm not far away anymore. ;)

I've had some problems when writing entries.

First is that there are some wierd things that happen when I have the cursor on the left side of the entry box (the place where you type). My browser does not display the whole page without haveing to scroll left and right. Some funny things happen where I will hit enter or home and the page will instintly scroll left (don't know if this is a problem with my browser or the page. In order to see all of the entry box I have to scroll right, so it is a pain to keep having to scroll back to the right every few mins.

Second is that while I was writing an entry I checked the private box (display only in private blog). I have finished with the entries and would like to put them out for the public to see, so I unchecked the box, it didn't change a thing. Do I have to copy/paste a new entry? It doesn't make sence that I would have to do that.

I'm using IE 6.0, and I'm seeing a funny shading. On the comments box, its only at the top and a light blue/grey line.

When writing an entry, however, the shading appears both at the top and on the left side. So much so that my first letter is either to left of or in the middle of the line, depending on the width of the letter.

Not anything major, but not as finished as a look as I prefer.

#5 - strange, I gotta try to reproduce and squash that bug. What browser, OS and screen resolution?

#6 - it's a texture tagged to the form box. The shading is intentional actually. ;)

The shading on the top is fine, but the one on the side to me is annoying. It gets in the way of the text. Can it be moved closer to the edge, as the top shading is?

Just clicked "visit user's blog" from the little form on the splash page and the link screwed up and redirected me to [Link]{user}.
  • Zhaneel · 7 years ago
Just tried the same thing as Mulligan. Its the button under the currently browsing users.

    I was redirected to [Link][user]

IE 5.0, Macintosh (I'm on my work comp. I'll check at home too).

I have some really weird formatting stuff on the post I just left, its my latest post, I'm using IE 6 on win2k. its got some odd spacing like it tried to justify it. I know that I didn't specify the url as a url, but I dont think it should have the text so messed up like it is. I left the post alone so you could take a look at it.

I was using Netscape 6 (recently switched to opera). Windows ME is my os. I used 800 by 600 res.

you might try to make the shading a little less apparent. It might bother people less and still get the desired affect.

Shading: brightened it up a bit.

#5: private on/off switching works fine for me... just ran a few tests, but couldn't find any odd behaviour...?

#12: Link was too long and broke the layout, just added raw link conversion.

#13: Read the footer - "made for a screen res of at least 1024x768", sorry. It might change with future themes, but the default theme is not compatible with 800x600.

Which reminds me: anyone interested in making themes? Good HTML/CSS knowledge required. If yes, mail me @ gossip@g-blog.net, please.

#14 when I went in to put the tags in, when I previewed the text was still all messed up, so I ended up doing tags.
  • Carlo Zottmann · 7 years ago
Umm, that's right. What I meant was: I fixed it in the current dev version of GLUE, and it'll be available when I upgrade the site to this version.

For more info, please check the GLUE dev board - it's easier for me to keep track of bugs and problems that way. Thanks. :)

Gossip, you might want to put a link at the top or on the left to the dev board so new people can find it.

He he, I'm embarrasing myself now :) (first I can't read, now I can't find something under my own nose). Its fine the post just shows up as posted on the date when I first wrote it. In other words it wasn't appearing on the front page because it was farther down in the catagory :(. I don't know if it makes sence to change it, but it might make sence to change the date on the entry to the last time it was edited. This might have other affects that I can't think of that might not be desired affects.

#19 - Good idea. Added on my user page, the footer of every page and the left column of both frontpage and category pages.

#20 - Sooner or later someone will come up with the idea of editing his/her post over and over just to stay on top, so the editing won't change the creation date.
