My jaw literally dropped within the first minutes of the movie. I was blown away. No movie has ever done that before or after. I love that movie :) It has so many layers to it.
Obviously I am eagerly awaiting the sequel and have high expectations.. which I hope dont ruin it for me.
Kind of funny.. I am looking forward to seeing the new Star Wars movie but my expectations have really been lowered because of Episode 1. Dont get me wrong, I liked Episode 1 and I am sure I will like this one, but it's missing that special something you cant quite put your hands on.
is waiting impatiently for the sequels
is squirming
Kept me free of peer pressure when I was a kid, and probably out of a lot of trouble. :-)
And I really try not to get my hopes up about sequels. As I understand it, The Matrix was done so masterfully, a sequel can't help but seem lame next to it - because if nothing else the sequel won't be as groundbreaking.
On the flipside, Attack of the Clones almost can't help but be Much Better than Phantom Menace. I mean, really.
{in hushed whisper} I hear Jar Jar is only in it for a few short minutes...
I worry little about things like that. Besides, the Queen's dresses promise to provide eye-candy again. :D

Hype, schmype - grab a copy somewhere and watch it. Just trust me on it. It's one of the most influental movies of the last decade, you're denying a part of this decades culture by not watching it.
(Note to self: excellent argument.)
LOL
So Im definitely looking forward to the sequel :)

I don't watch TV (no time or interest), I listen to 80's music on the radio (well, classic rock - the Denver 80's station just died a few weeks ago), I'm like a troglodyte with my books, games, and web browsing. I'm sure my suit and ties are desperately out of fashion, and since I don't wear a hat backwards and my pants have too few pockets and generally cover my butt, I'm sure I'm way out of style. Actors' names mostly mean nothing to me: I don't think I've ever seen a movie with Nicole Kidman in it, and the last thing I saw Tom Cruise in was Top Gun - which I saw on videotape. Probably the last few movies I've seen in the theater, in reverse chronological order, were:
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
GalaxyQuest
one or two bad Star Trek movies #8? #7? Both?
Stargate
See a trend there? I'm a little insular.
It'd be a waste to see the Matrix on my TV, anyway. It was bought in like '81 and is pretty dinky.
But honestly. Grab the DVD or a rip on the net and watch it on your monitor if your TV set's too old.
Galaxy Quest was excellent, by the way. Which reminds me that I've only seen it once. Damn, gotta do something about it. Well, first I need to watch the second half of SW:AotC. BBL.
yeah, same here, and i own it. maybe tonight.
Heh, heh. But THAT might require possessing a DVD player or DVD-ROM drive, wouldn't it...?
It's just that I've chosen to spend my time not on movies. I'm sure they're plenty enjoyable. I've just had other priorities.
The average American watches what, 6 or 12 hours of television each week? I don't recall the statistic. Well, I don't do that and there's still no darn time for everything!
However, watching a good movie once is not the same as watching TV for hours on end daily. Don't be so stuffy about it! :P
It's just all about time. If I went to see every good (and mediocre) movie out there, even sticking to genres I like, I'm sure I'd spend a couple hours every other week at the theater. My cats already hate me for not paying enough attention to them! I've got two or three "hobbies" that I used to enjoy but I never do anything with anymore, because other stuff takes precedence. I've just decided there are certain things I'm OK with missing out on. Afraid that means I don't know diddly about most of the good movies and TV shows out there, I miss out on the cool/funny commercials (but even I heard about "Whazzaaaaaap!"), and have no clue what the latest funny expressions are, or at least their context is lost on me...
I'm with ya, i'd cancel cable if my apt complex didn't pay for basic cable.
Movies, on the other hand, i love watching movies :)
You definitely need to invest in a DVD player of some kind. It is well worth it. Once you get used to the quality of DVD's you'll never go back.
That was a surprisingly good movie.. a great satire and some great cleavage ;)
