Why dubbed movies are fncked. My favourite example:

Remember "The Matrix"? After Neo does his I'm-nearly-as-good-as-them-dance to avoid Smith' bullets? It were like this:

    Neo (scared): "Trinity! Help!"
Smith pointing his gun at Neo (flat, cruel voice): "Only human."
Trinity comes up behind Smith, points her gun at his head (sarcastic cool and resolved voice): "Dodge this."
    *BLAM*

    This is the german version:
    Neo (bored): "Trinity"
    Smith (bored): "Nur ein Mensch"
    Trinity (bored): "Nur eine Maschine"
    Audience: *snore*

The difference seems not much at first glance, but between the two versions are worlds. Voice actors for German dubbed movies always sound as if they can't grasp the concept of Emotion oder Excitement cause it's to alien for them. The (often poor) translation does the rest...

I don't understand the title thing. It makes no sense.

Actually, the movie's original title was, in fact, "Welcome to the Jungle". It was changed to "The Rundown" for the US release only. It's still called "Welcome to the Jungle" in the rest of the world.

US movie means US title == right title. Period. I still think it sucks, and even tho it might be a bad example, you know damn well that they're doing this all the time, Morn.

jeck, I agree, although I gotta say that IMHO the german version of that particular dialog is much better.

Another reason why dubbed movies suck:
the voices always seem to come from outside.
when you hear the original version, the actors' voices are mixed with traffic noise, music, other people talking.
in the dubbed version, it's with less athmo, and - jeck's right - less emotion.
and sometimes, they change the voice from movie to movie. or one voice is taken for more than one actor.
    aaaaaaaaaargh.
another example from matrix: agent smith interrogating neo.
the original "miiister aaanderson"-speech is just great. the dubbed version: well, we cover it and hope, no one will find it.

Well, I don't think it's so bad when a movie keeps its original title. I agree the completely new titles German distributors come up with are pretty horrible most of the time. "Born 2 Die" instead of "Cradle 2 the Grave"? What the hell?

Anyway, let's not worry about these things. Bring on the porn!
