Does this mean that a new post won't show up in the sidebar listing of recent posts, if it's "less public"?
  • Carlo Zottmann · 6 years ago
Yes. "Less public" == appears on your user page only.

Thanks Gossip, :) one less reason to use LJ

How about a 'visible to friends only' option?
  • Lupus · 6 years ago
Hmm, I'm still worried that would generate cliqués in an otherwise open and friendly site.
  • terpsichoros · 6 years ago
I'd almost rather see a "visible to non-friends only" option, so I can dish to the relative strangers here. But that wouldn't really be practical.

    Thanks, Gossip. Nice addition. :)

It would be interesting to track how much it gets used.

    As a note:

Semi-public entries still show up in the sidebar as a "recent entry", though the text of the entry is not listed if one clicks on the "recent entries" link.

Not that I think you can or should do anything, but it does kinda cheat the point for the first 24-48 hrs. after the post.

What do you mean? The "recent entries" list in navigation bar?
  • Zhaneel · 6 years ago
    On the front page.

    Most Recent Entries: [non link]
Recent Entries [link for 25 recent entries, full text]
Recent Entries (friends) [link based on friends list]

When I made a semi-public entry, my username appeared in the list of names, but the entry itself did not show up in any of the categories or when you clicked the LINK for recent entries.

Didn't test for recent entries (friends) LINK.

I think it's always done that, Zhan....
  • Zhaneel · 6 years ago
It has. But there seemed to be confusion about whether it was STILL doing it or not.

Wasn't complaining, just using an example to make sure I understood the rules.

    Just tested PRIVATE entries.

Which did move my name in the list of recent entries. Would be nice if that could be hidden, so people didn't KNOW you were writing stuff you didn't want them to see.

    But that's just me.

#14 - Zhan, that's a good idea actually. As far as the "semi-public but still in the list" issue goes - it's supposed to be this way.
  • Zhaneel · 6 years ago
I know. I just wanted to check since I thought #1 was asking and I wanted to clarify.
