Huzzah! TIPS: Turn In People Soon.

Very disturbing but funny, in a twisted kind of way.
  • dew1969 · 7 years ago
It is very disturbing. It is just ridicules. There is a conversation on fanBoy's blog about this topic.

    Gossip,

The scarier thing is: There are still people who like Bush and like this program.
    Shudders.

I hate this program and similar smaller things that Bush has gotten away with in the name of patriotism.

    man, that's just messed up.

i'm really afraid of the state of the world in 10 years from now. "big brother" is going to be watching you take a shower to make sure that you aren't doing "suspicious things" while you're behind the curtain.

Heheheheh. Weird experience this evening on the way back from work. We've got the Commonwealth Games starting in Manchester (city I work in) in a few days time. I'm sat on my train waiting to go home and notice police in body armour with mirrors on poles and torches checking all the platform announcement equipment on the station for bombs.

Then, to top it all off some moron left their bags on a seat on the train. The announcement comes over that unless the individual that has left their bags on a seat in coach B returns quickly they will announce a security alert.

Given the fact the IRA blew the shit out of Manchester in the early nineties, I'm not really surprised. However, since the last mainland campaign affecting the areas I live in, I haven't felt nervous. I did tonight.

Slightly off-topic, I know - but hey, society is pretty fucked whichever way you look at it.

Mull, that happened to my dad a bit back.. He travels quite a lot and on the last plane he was getting on, there was luggage for a passenger, but no passenger.

They unloaded all of the people from the plane and then unloaded all of the baggage in order to get to the abandoned bags.

It resulted in about a 2 hour delay, and i guess the person had gotten on an earlier flight butthe bags hadn't transferred.

    @6

Well that's a good argument for Jen and I to NOT let the Cruise company transport our bags to the airport for us while we make a side trip to meet up with some family in Anchorage that aren't going to be at the wedding.

Wouldn't want to delay a flight because we weren't there to say "those are ours"

I think I'm going to volunteer for TIPS. However, I'll be a super-secret spy within an already existing spy network. It's my personal method of checks n' balances.

I think I'll call it CRAP: Control the Rampant Assertion of Power

    :)

    or not.

    LOL, Can I join Crap?
  • ekoostik · 7 years ago
Sure thing, but I'm going to have to do a BG check on you though... i don't need any spies in my spy organization within a spy organization...

    you understand.

There's a link at the EFF somewhere (sorry, I don't have it at the moment) about a site where you can report against known TIPS "agents". I think it is an effective means to balance the system, although I'd prefer if it didn't exist at all. I thought that all that hardware the CIA and FBI use was sufficient. I mean, recruit more agents if you really need intelligence information that badly, don't go inducting private citizens who may have their own agenda about what to report. The whole thing is just begging for abuse, and I am scared what would happen to someone unjustly accused under the laws we have in place right now.

Speak Out, Get Reported, Disappear Into The System....

Scares the crap out of me.

@13 too late, I am sure CRAP is on the FBI known terrorist list or maybe the list is full of CRAP.

    *chomp!*

Coming home soon--miss both you and fuzzball. Going to bring more pictures and some small edibles/drinkables to make your life in US a bit less miserable for a while. :)
  • Lilith · 7 years ago
Besides, you are coming here sooner than I'll get a chance to come visit again, so quit whining!

(And at least you can drink the way they do... ask Ziv how much fun it is dragging me up the spirally curling staircase to the bathroom--all the while trying not to hit the ceiling with his head...) :P
  • Poseidon · 7 years ago
A lot more fun then for ME to drag you up a spiraling staircase....
