Gossip, I read your valiant attempt (on PJG news) to stop the flaming. I thought it was a good idea, unfortunately, after reading some of the replies, I came to the conclusion that if it wasn't for some friends I am exchanging PJG PMs with while at work, I am ready to leave that site altogether--and it saddens me, as it has been my favorite for many months now.

Seems that some people come there specifically to read and write flames (or so they themselves admit in those comments). I don't like using the "tune out" feature on anyone but those who directly harrassed me without provocation (you know who I am talking about). However, what used to be a nice and informative community site, is now turning into a flamefest (as we have all noticed).

Well, the TuneOut solution works fine for me. Mine consists of a bunch of people which are annoying but more or less harmless. I just feel the need to make witty remarks after reading their posts, not because they are attacking me personally but because they sport a "holier than thou" attitude which drives me mad. So, to protect myself from feeling the need to yell at them, I ignore them... works great. ;)

I don't hate them for their attitude. It's just that over the last few years I noticed that I'm not compatible to certain types of people, and this is a great tool to avoid confrontation right from the start. If I can't see it, I can't get fed up about it.

I've got to say, I've done my fair share of troll-baiting, and when I DID that, I never minded what was posted in reply (well... except for that link to a gay porn site that kramen put in his post that one time), because I DID bait the trolls myself.

However, I find that I am completely incompatible with people who flame others and seem to get off on it somehow. So I stopped baiting them. Then stopped posting almost completely. When I got abused and insulted on a thread that wasn't started by me, and was dedicated to helping newbies, I figured that I have just about had enough.

Hmmm... well, one person just commented about disney.com--I wonder if that is who you are talking about... but if so, how did he manage to get to PJG to comment on it???

I meant in-game. If you are banned, you are banned. You can lurk as anonymous visitor, but you can't log on anymore, hence you can't do anything anymore.

Gossip what's to stop them from making a new account. Do you block the ISP or the Mail address? Just wondering what you do about the people with the dynamic ISP.

    Combined user/IP banning.
