Thanks for the advice. :) I installed it the other day, and I am still in the "tweaking" process, but I think once I am done, I will get rid of the rest of the clients. :)

Oooh, and the privacy/security settings are great!

yea yea, trillian ROCKS. its only at version 0.71, but its got SOOO many features for that. and remarkably stable, though I have had a few random crashes, but only after it was running for several days at the least. hmmm...I need to ask them to give us the option of running a script of some kind for an away message. that way I could integrate it into a calender based thing like my friend does with GAIM.

Amen to that - damn good bit of software :) All it needs is SMS and then it'll be just about perfect :)

What for? I read a CNet review today (rating 8 out of 10) and they were noticing that things like voice-over-IP, SMS and PC-to-phone as well as some other features of ICQ are missing.

Well, of course. It's an instant messaging client, not a bad-ass communications platform. All this stuff, these features, make ICQ what it is today: too big, unstable and totally bloated.

No thanks. Trillian is perfect the way it is. Almost oldschool - and that's why I like it so much. :)

my favorite feature in Trillian is if you use Windows 2k or XP you can make it transparent.

What for? As I see it, SMS is just another IM platform, and the only one Trillian doesn't cover. If the add SMS as an option, I'll be able to handle _ALL_ my communications in Trillian :) However, if the code required does make it bloated, I'm happy to have it left out in favour of keeping it slimline

#6 damn straight! give me back ICQ when it didn't have all these million and one doodads that take up memory and I don't use.

#8 hey, give it a break, its only 0.71, its STILL in developement, though the release is not generally beta type software, though it has crashed on me a few times, I should go fill out a bug report.

I switched to Trillian from Miranda ICQ a while ago... have been addicted to it since then. Very nice! The only thing missing is IMHO a search function... you know, search an ICQ number by his name, or e-mail adress, this kind of stuff.
