    no time zone adjustment? evil Gossip, its a real pain. come on, its just a little +5 here, or -3 from the time. how hard can that be?

    $adjustment = lookup_time_adjustment( $user );
    $time = $time + $adjustment;

    something like that. I know its quite a bit more than that, but isn't that more or less what you do? damn, you must be busy, but it still doesn't seem THAT big. or maybe I'm just still too nOOb at this programming thing...

    I don't have a problem with the Timezone, but what the hell is up with when I log on to G-blog, the most recent entries date/time stamp never changes. Even when people have made new entries.

    It's not that hard, admitted. It's just much easier to handle this way. If I add timezone adjustment, what would happen to the daily list? I.e. you're in a different timezone than I am. I am visiting your blog for -say- Jan 2nd 2002 - it'd be a different list than what you would be getting if you would visit it, since some entries would be "wandering" between Jan 1st 2002 and Jan 3rd 2002. See where I am going here?

    So, to make it short: I don't feel like adding timezone support. *shrug*

    It shouldn't list twice the same name if a person made two entries. It's supposed to only put the name on top w/ an updated timestamp. Doesn't do that??

    UPDATE: No, it doesn't... working on it.

    Wow. Fast work Gossip. Good Job!!!!

    "Users now browsing this site" list? Like PJG "who's online" function, visible to logged-in users only.

    Not necessary, but if it's not too difficult, would be nice.

    (#6) Yes, please.

    And I support no timezone adjustments. Having one absolute measurement for everyone in an international site like this one just makes too much sense to me. I'd have had the whole planet on metric and using coordinated universal time years ago, if I were elected king. :-)

    On threads that we have commented on is there a way to mark, notate, highlight or otherwise let us know if somebody else has commented on that thread without having to go to each thread?

    Sort of like in your Control Panel, where the blog entries that you have made show how many comments have been made.

    #6 - Hmm...

    #8 - Oiy. Big task. Gotta think about it.
  • Drizzt321 · 7 years ago
    in terms of timezones, I DEFFINATLEY agree, have one baseline that everything is recorded at. wait a sec...I've gotten myself in circles. your right Gossip, its better the way it is. ignore this post please.
  • Aewl · 7 years ago
    Sorry about the big task Gossip, but you did ask if anybody had any suggestions.....hehe

    I'll try not to ask for something big again.

    BTW, is there anyway you can change PJG so it doesn't show up on Websense as a catagory "Games"? Sorry I think I just asked for something big again.

    Try this: http://planetjumpgate.net/?nometa=1. Might work.

    Gossip, about #8, wouldn't this be just like the icons in a BBS that indicate if there's been posts in a thread since you (ID by cookie/login) last visited? Put an icon after each comment item in the Control Panel list that reflects the state of some kind of "checkiflast" function: colored - new stuff, grey - no activity.

    Apologies for pretending I know what I'm talking about.

    #13, excellent idea, however given the current style of the web-site it might be better to use the plain text markers instead. i really like that the site only has images in the personal blogs and nowhere else, but that might be just me.
  • Lilith · 7 years ago
    Agree with #14, I like the style the way it is, without extra images. Hmm... I need a picture for my blog. :)

    #12. Sorry Gossip, it didn't work. After talking with a few people at work, it seems they can specifically target sites to be blocked.

    It is like Big Brother there, they can remotely view your screen to see what you are doing. Guess I went to PJG a bit much and then they blocked it.

    On the frontpage, below the categories pulldown menu.

    UPDATE: Hmm, it's working pretty good. Was hard to test since I was the only person on the site when I wrote it. ;)

    maybe a section/category that will show up on the top of the list on opening page (if selected in control panel), to show all threads in which u have new comments that you havent read.
    It'd be nice not to have to scroll thru the big long page that it is now, looking for red "1 new" text. =P
  • Lilith · 7 years ago
    Hornet... check your "control panel"... it's there.

    Feature request - cross-category posting

    Dawned on me that this might be easy. But I posted soemthing yesterday that could easily go in any of several categories.
