    I don't like this development either, but you can hardly call it "spam". It's a lot more like banner ads on websites. If your favorite RSS enabled site puts way too many paid ads into its RSS feed, you always have the choice to unsubscribe. You don't have this choice with actual spam.

    Overall, I don't mind paid RSS ads on a content level. The main (technical) problem, as I see it, is that it will trigger various RSS notifiers when there isn't really any new content. There's a certain risk that too many paid ads in RSS feeds will eventually render them useless, which would be very unfortunate.

    Addendum: why have people not realized already that you simply can't make any worthwhile amounts of money through web ads unless you have a huge, huge site with an audience that hasn't grown banner blind yet?

    Google AdSesne? I made $111.09 in the latter part of last year from advertising on a lowly wiki that gets only a few visitors. Almost no work involved!
