Nobody is going to want to pay for spell-checker.net's product when it was originally a *free* service. That is the mistake so many online companies make when they realize they have to start making money in order to keep their sites running.

People get used to things being free and then resent it when the company attempts to start charging.

I hate to say it, but a tiered model seems to be more effective, just don't make your free service so good that the user has little incentive to upgrade.

It also seems that on certain community sites *cough* *cough*, establishing a kick-ass service, and then asking for donations to help keep the site running works well too. :)

Ah well, goodbye free spell checker. I will miss you.

One of these days, I wont screw up that url tag

    *feels lucky*

I generally spell well without a spellchecker (never used the thing except clicking on it by accident).

Don't beat me for my spelling skills, beat my English teacher (who beat them into my head)! :P
