That's one thing I like about working in a very small company where my boss doesn't know crap about technology, and I'm basically the IT person. :)

Sorry you had to re-do everything. That sucks! :(

You know as an Sys Admin myself I can understand where your guys are coming from and totally sympathise with them. There are some users I would love to unleash that kind of thing on.

On the other hand if anyone tried doing that to my system I'd kill them. So I sympathise with you too. No way to get around it?

Carlo and I work for the same company.

I wish they'd realize that web developers (or any other kinds of developer) often have their own little set of favorite tools. Forcing us to use A instead of B isn't just annoying, it's diminishing our productivity, and thus the entire company's performance.

I want my money back. :P

Oh hell yeah. I was thinking more along the lines of sales people who install horrible peices of spyware just because it gives them a background with 'horsies' on it :p

Developers are a different case entierly.

I love the "horsies" example. :)

Yeah, I can totally understand why they did it. I don't really blame them for doing it neither. But Morn's right. It's a problem. Couple of months ago I asked them to install a freeware tool I needed. They didn't even test it for anything. All I got was a "sorry, not on our 'allowed' list", and that was it. Not very helpful. Still, we're not allowed to install anything, even if we really need it for our daily work. So, while I do understand their approach, I'm still pissed at the situation as such.
