I plan on adding image galleries in v2, BTW.
I also plan on introducing two or three types of accounts. Standard accounts will be free, those will be pretty much the type of account you're using right now. Except maybe BlogWatch, everything available now will remain free. Image galleries and a number of other features will be Gold accounts and above, which will go for $1/month or so. Not trying to milk you people, just looking for ways to upgrade the site while remaining able to pay for the hosting. I think a buck per month for extra features is reasonable. Mind you, upgrading won't be necessary, if you can live with the features you have now, you should be fine with free/Standard.
I'm not going to plaster the site w/ ads for free members neither, don't worry. I'll keep the site from becoming an advertisement palooza if I can help it. :) Heh.
Don't feel like going into more details right now. Work first, then talk. ;)
As for question about the things mentioned above, go ahead, I'll answer as honest as possible.
'appy new 'ear.
Am pritty sure my budget could strech to more for a WAP/GPRS blog ;)
As I thought for some time about things I'd like to have here, I'll add my Wishlist for v2:
mark blog entries with a language and the ability to subscribe only to entries in certain languagesEdited by...-line optional, when entry is edited by owner.customizable stylesheets or regions within stylesheetsLess "games"-categories.infinite (or way bigger) no. of fave-links

Sorry, that I bothered the public with this.
bows deeply and apologizes.
WHY are you still using IE?!!!?
@#19: Exactly what I thought. The possibility to post for certain groups only would IMHO change the basic idea of g-blog. Besides: Glue is available for everyone, so groups could always set up their own box.
*Three month later I got a call from the admin who complained about the 80 megs cache in my profile. *ooops*

- As for the higher number of bookmarks/fave-links: planned.
- More themes: planned.
- Posts visible to friends only: not happening, sorry.
- "Edited"-line: planned as option for Gold members. :P
- Cellphone support: I really like the concept, I'll see what I can do.
- Language support: Still pondering about that.
- Customizable CSS: probably not, but I might change my mind to some degree. Not sure yet.
- Categories: I'm working on a slightly different concept than the current one already, we'll see.
Indeed.

The answer is Opera. Yay! for Opera Everyone wins!
Ahem.
Yes sir. Opera is now the best browser in the world.
(Am I the only here who thinks that Opera rocks harder than Moz or FB?)
Yes. Freak.
;)
Other than that G-Blog is already more or less perfect IMO. Intrested in seeing V2 tho.
GBv2 Wishlist: The ability to achieve the coveted Admin status.
I keed, I keed. Mi scusi! Btw, have you guys seen the trailer for Eurotrip? Clickkity pronto.

Question: Why less game categories?
Defense of IE: IE is the (IIRC) the most used browser. So Gossip is more likely to have more exposure as well as more users by still allowing IE as a good browser. It is what I use, and I don't see any likelihood of me changing that. I couldn't even if I wanted to do so at work, and I'm sure there are many other people who have admin controlled machines with no ability to install new programs. I'm not saying IE is the best browser, by any stretch of the imagination, but I am saying it is something that should be supported by G-blog.
Zhaneel
Well that rules out IE then ;)

Because I seldom see someone use them. I myself always found the generic "Games" category sufficient and find the whole lot of different categories is difficult to handle. So I would appreciate if there would be fewer of them if possible - or a tree-like structure.

most of the time it takes me longer to select a category for my entry then writing the entry itself, I'm not good with choices.
Yay!
May I suggest that all accounts be allowed a single "profile image" to be added to the database? We just about all use them anyway. Of course, you should limit image dimensions and file size to something sane.
Yould could also look at generating a small version (the size used in the comments) on the fly (the way gallery does it) and store both - trade off some DB storage space with the bandwidth savings... (may not be worth it, but an idea)
The current build of MozillaFirebird does not actually require and install... just unzip the archive and drag a shortcut to the app to your desktop (or wherever else youwant to launch the app from )
:)
What I was suggesting was having a profile image table added to the GLUE database, so that profile images were hosted locally. That way, a user could upload a profile image to g-blog using thier control panel, instead of just linking to an image hosted off-site.
:D
