    woot! Go G-Blog!
  • Zhaneel · 6 years ago
    Yeah G-blog.

So... what are your thoughts on old accounts? There are some that I know are defunct... there are some that are used for commenting only (or are those included in the 150 active users)... there are some that are used rarely...

You ever think you're going to delete some? Or push them to an "inactive" state where the Username is saved, but entries are deleted?

    Congratulations - this is excellent.
  • Carlo Zottmann · 6 years ago
Zhan - no. Too much hassle. I'll just leave 'em sitting there. They're not using up any bandwidth or valuable screen space, so why bother. :)
  • Zhaneel · 6 years ago
Server space? Why is probably small in text.

  • Carlo Zottmann · 6 years ago
Nah, got plenty. Two or three megabytes more don't push the limits.
  • entipy · 6 years ago
    Yay G-blog!

Can I have a glass of wine instead of beer? And yes G-Blog rocks!
  • Lupus · 6 years ago
    Woohoo!. ;-)

I always find it surprising just how little space writing takes up. I work with hordes of artists whose CD portfolios number into gigabytes. The sum total of my coding work over the years could fit onto two or three floppy disks. If pushed, I could probably code the whole lot properly from memory (properly this time round, of course ;-). Anyone remember the days when disk space was quoted in terms of 'pages of text'? Truth is, text is tiny compared to audio, video, or art. Even compiled code is a fraction of the space occupied by assets. And online providers are all about how much video/pictures you can serve to people. Text based sites generate so little traffic its unreal.

Wow. I just noted the statistic on the left, that says I've made 4.24% of the total comments on the site. So, 1 in every 20 out of the comments made are mine. Scary. ;-)

Sweet! This is really such a nifty site and wow... making milestones here. Soo sweet!

Now I can have my IN n OUT. Hehehehe :)

Gossip, is there any way of stopping "Foe"'s blogs showing up in the "Most recent entries" sidebar?

Sorry, know it's off-topic, but not sure where else to put it :)
  • Lupus · 6 years ago
The place for feature requests (and bug reports) is the GLUE dev board. I think you'll find its already possible - theres a check box to completely ignore foes which should hide them completely (as opposed to just replacing their entries/comments with "this comment was filtered...").
  • Fellblade · 6 years ago
No, it doesn't work - just means that you don't see their comments with the "You've put this person on your foes list" thing there - their blogs are still on the "Most recent entries" listing
  • Lupus · 6 years ago
Ah, I think that one came up before and there was a reason why it couldn't be done. Have a search around in the wishlist forum.

EDIT: In an effort to avoid more Christmas shopping, I went browsing myself and couldn't find it. Never mind, just my mind playing tricks on me.

Bluntly, the 'most recent' bit is filled up with piles of posts from 'jonno' 'rennie', etc, with atrocious spelling, caps, grammar, and... everything.
  • Arbus · 6 years ago
Ah, Fellblade... Community is community. Though, I am happy I have some competition for the position of 'Old Guy that Sits on the Bench and Gripes about the Kids' Music.'

Between you and me, it's Gossip's fault for bringing us all together.
  • Carlo Zottmann · 6 years ago
Fell, this page and this one should be different (assuming your friends list ain't empty). If it doesn't, you really found a bug. In this case please post a bug report on the GLUE board. Thanks a bunch.

Yep. I really hate you guys, and I thought you deserve some punishment. :P
  • Fellblade · 6 years ago
Nah, the problem was that I didn't want to see my foes, but I wanted to see globs other than just my friends ;)
  • ethal · 6 years ago
"Globs" - I like the sound of them - where can I get some? :)
  • Fellblade · 6 years ago
Meh, I'm just crap at spelling after alcohol ;)
  • Arbus · 5 years ago
And here I thought 'globs' was one of those fun British volume measures...

He drank 9 globs of stout and fainted clean away.

    ROFL
  • Arbus · 5 years ago
The whole language thing goofs me up, sometimes.
For instance, in America we can say 'My son and I went out and shagged a few' and not be deemed too odd...
  • Lupus · 5 years ago
Now that all depends on who you know. ;)
  • Arbus · 5 years ago
Well, not be deemed too odd by, um....
    Geeze, this -is- difficult.

I know my son's Mom would be upset with me. Especially since he's just 12 years old.
